Referential Gaze
Using various facial expression detection services available online, the work ponders the implications of quantification of everything. The original facial features digitally removed and smoothed out are replaced by somewhat cryptic and numerical results of the analysis returned by these software applications. The results are cut out using a die cutter and glued on top of the face. The work blends the materiality of data and image and the information becomes more ambiguous and mysterious than the actual faces.
